Yell Tourist Brochure

The aim of this project was to develop a comprehensive tourist brochure for the island of Yell.  It focuses on the attractions of Yell, with particular reference to the environment and wildlife.  The local community was involved and the brochure was designed and developed by young people from the local school. This was an extra-curricular project where young people involved were introduced to new IT and publishing skills and the brochure produced looked at B&B facilities and natural, historical and cultural information on the island, with a ‘what to see and do’ section included. 

The project met the following Leader+ objectives:

• to promote and exploit opportunities presented by new technologies and know how, in the sphere of culture and heritage;
• to support innovative approaches which reflect the potential value of the high quality natural resources and the environment of the islands.

The project also involved a number of women from the community and was awarded Leader+ assistance of £1,126.
